These black barred schlappen feathers from Montana Fly Company are 5″-8″ long, and a great way to make beautifully mottled wraps on your buggers and streamer bodies. One unique thing about these feathers is that they are dyed over white and then barred using MFC’s proprietary bar-dying process that penetrates the feather rather than simply coating the surface. What that means is that you get super consistent barring that will never fade in colors that were previous unavailable to the contemporary fly tyer.
